European Union -Africa Strategy
EU-Africa Strategy
The EU-Africa Strategy is an initiative of the Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid dating back to the year 2005.
The document adopted by the European Council on 15/16 December is meant to present a framework for the development programmes of the Commission and the 25 member states concerning Africa over the next ten years.
The distinctive feature of this strategy is that it treats the African continent as a single unity and attempts to include the existing regional agreements Cotonou and MEDA.
On 22/23 June 2006 the Austrian EU-Platform together with its member organisations and CONCORD hosted an INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE IMPACTS OF THE EU-AFRICA STRATEGY.
